  1. This story is interesting and is definetley out there.
I dont read many science fiction stories, but this one was actually pretty cool.

  2. What is the rumor about "glaz"? That the humans had invented the glaz, and given it to their masters. Alan wonders how any human could invent anything, while they are penned in a field.
    - What does the "glaz" do?
Have they been to Earth before, they know the songs and they have spurs.

  3. In the beginning of the story it wasn't exactly the easiest thing to understand, but as it got closer to the end i think it was easier to comprehend and think about. I think of what i did understand was really weird though. Pretty cool but weird.

  4. At the very beginning of the story Blik says how humans used to live in the Star Tower. It seems as if humans are less prominent in this story comparred to the Hussirs that live there. Humans seem to be very low on the cultural "totem pole".

What is the significance of the Star Tower?

Some of the reasns why the story does not take place on Earth: There are two suns, humans are not the main race, there are no cars just humans for transport. Humans are also very poorly treated. Many of them are slaves to brutal leaders.

The zirk's almost seem like a comparrison to a Macaw where it repeats everyhtingit hears. But how did the Zirk's learn how to say "Come with me to freedom human"?

It qappears as if the Zirk's are merely messengers for the Wild Humans who trained them to say, "Come with me to freedom human" so they could get more humans to climb the fence and join them.

The Hussir's are planning a attack on the main city of Falklyn to free the 40,000 humans there.

  5. i think that is is really interesting how these aliens ride humans. The humans are treated like animals. I also think that the lullabies are very interesting. I wonder what is in the Star Tower that is able too free all humans.

  6. Is this story based on a later version of earth or are humans on another planet?

The Hussirs claim to be more mature yet they cannot understand the basic demographics of a window.

The lullaby's carry the same tune but the story seems more like a combination of extrapolation and xenophobia.

The humans are almost treated like second class citizens...this seems like a tale of slavery but in the future.

Alan shows compassion for Bliks death, is this affection the difference between humans and Hussirs?

  7. i thought it was kinda interesting that the hussir controlled the human race, and how the humans dont retaliate. i believe that later in the story the humanswill take over and rule the hussirs by finding out that thestar tower holds all the secrets/ history of the humans when they were free.

  8. i think this story is interesting how humans are the animals and how the aliens are the superior race which is kind of interesting, i also thought that humans were also thought of wild crazy animals which seems to be interesting on how this story seems to maybe represent the slavery era from the united States

  9. I liked the ending a lot to the story. I had no idea that the Star Tower was actually a spaceship. It was a cool twist to the story.

  11. I found it interesting that some how the human race lost intelligence. My question is that how did these advanced humans become enslaved by the husers. To me it seems that the humans would enslave the the husers that part just didn't make sense to me.

  12. I've never imagined humans not being the superior race, and being animals that others ride on. It's an interesting turn on the classic story about being on another planet and saving the day. I liked it though, because the whole time during the story I was thinking about how laws on earth make it illegal to be in public nude, whereas on this planet, domesticated animals are naked, and the wild ones are the ones with clothes.

  13. I thought it was cool how the Star Tower ended up being a ship. I also thought it was cool how the song ended up being a riddle on the steps one must do to save humanity.

  14. Ah... just as I had expected, the "Star Tower" is in fact a starship... and the silk, as I had predicted, may very well be a communique, one of distress...

I really liked this story, pretty suspenseful and action-packed.

  15. I was surprised how easily the captive humans were brainwashed to fear the wild humans.

  16. I think that once Mara and Alan make it back to Earth, they will get help from the humans there. I also think that the humans on Earth will be much smarter then the Hussirs are and won't have any problem freeing the humans. It seems like the humans who first visited the planet were much smarter then the Hussirs because they could build spaceships.

  17. The ending of this story was pretty interesting. I definitely should have seen that the light tower was a space ship......pretty obvious. You could also tell that the story was written in '72. It mentioned several times how women possibly weren't as equal as men. But besides that fact, I really like how the author used the same childhood verses but worked them into a wild human society on a diverse, strange planet.
